The Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of Madhrasathul Sabeelur Rashad, the Quran Madhrasa of the Maligawatte Grand Jumma Masjid, was successfully held on 03rd January 2026. The event celebrated the achievements of over 150 students, with both fathers and mothers proudly in attendance.The event was graced by Kaleefathu Shazuli Moulavi Ahamed Soofi Mahlari Principal Ajward Al Fassi (Arabic College), who attended as Guests of Honour. They delivered insightful speeches on the importance of education and Madhrasa studies in shaping young minds.
The programme was organized under the coordination and leadership of Madhrasa Principal Moulavi Al Hafil Aslam Ihsani, and chaired by Al Haj Maheer Hassan, Senior Vice President of the Maligawatte Grand Jumma Masjid and Chairman of the Madhrasa Committee. The event was further supported by the patronage of Dr. Razeen Anver (MD), Chief Trustee, and Al Haj A.H.M. Iqbal, General Secretary & Vice President of the Masjid.Among those present were Al Haj Ifam Saleem (Board of Trustees Member), Al Haj Basheer Ahamed (Treasurer), and Board of Management Members Al Haj Yasir, Al Haj Nusrath Ramiz, Al Haj Fayas, M.I. Nawshad, Razmi Rafeek, and Umair Nawshad.Special guest Mr. Cassim Rasooldeen, Editor-in-Chief of Colombo Times, also joined the event.
The successful coordination of the event was carried out by the dedicated Madhrasa Usthads — Moulavi Abdul Musawwir Nular, Moulavi Imfaaz Ahamed Rashadhi, Moulavi Rasheed Humaidhi, Moulavi Fazil, and Moulavi Farzan.The ceremony ended with the distribution of prizes and warm wishes for continued excellence in both religious and academic learning.
