President Anura Kumara Dissanayake directed officials to ensure disaster relief grants — Rs. 25,000 for house cleaning and Rs. 50,000 for household items — are fully disbursed before 31 December. In a high-level meeting under the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ programme, officials reviewed progress on resettlement, housing compensation, livelihood recovery, and preparations for the Maha Season. Plans to aid flood-hit families, support affected farmers and small businesses, and speed up lost ID and passport replacements were also discussed. Fair and timely distribution of aid remains a top priority.
